This past week on Monday, two guys we hired came and put in an egress window and replaced the two south windows with slightly larger windows. Thus, the basement was ready to start framing. Friday night my uncle Paul and Dad came up to help Jameson start work in the basement. Thanks to their experiance, a lot of work got done. All 3 worked hard all day Saturday and got a lot of the framing done, some eletrical run, beams reinforced and some block removed to raise the door height. Paul also replaced 3 windows on the back side of the house. Needless to say, they worked very hard all day! We are glad to have the project started and know it'll take working all day almost every Saturday in order to get the basement finished by August for Jenessa and Amanda. (Jameson's sister and friend are going to live down there this coming school year).
My mom, grandma, aunt Carol, and cousin Christine also came to visit. We went to some garage sales Sat. morning, the farmers market, the antique mall, made tasty food, and enjoyed the beautiful weather (someone had to while the guys worked in the basement). Aunt Carol brought me some hostas and flowers and helped me plant those. She also spent a lot of time pulling weeds from the flower beds along the fence in our back yard. I think it looks wonderful now and am grateful for her work!
Here's some pictures from the weekend:
Before the work begins
Building and putting up the framing
West half mostly framed. Where the table is will be a rec area, just on the other side of the half wall will be kitchenette / dinning area, and down by the windows will be a living area.
Supper time
